After leaving the temple in WDC we headed north to Thurmont, MD where we planned to spend Memorial Day Weekend and visit with our oldest son, Luke, who lives in the area. We set up in a state park there.
We pulled in on Thursday and were the only rig in the place! Luke was already there and helped guide us into our rather difficult to get into space. It was a beautiful location. Only challenge..... lots of bugs!
After we got all set up, we three went out to dinner in town. We had a wonderful visit and dinner, even though there was a tornado warning in the area and there were severe thunder storms and sirens kept going off while we ate and visited. The locals all left eventually, and we had the place to ourselves. We then went back to the trailer, cleared all the broken branches (1) away from the trailer and then settled in for a visit until Luke left about midnight.
The next day, Friday, we spent getting things caught up around the trailer until Luke arrived in the later morning.
He had the day off, mostly, so we spent the day together.
We spent the day touring his work and the local area. It sure is beautiful here!
We once again stayed up late visiting!
The next day, Saturday, we went hiking and went to see the house Luke and Bethany are buying, but I forgot to take pictures of the house. It is a cute two story, right behind the school the girls will attend.
We were happy there was a resting spot when we got to the top of the hill! You can't see it, but there was a beautiful view of the valley behind us.
There are ground hogs here and according to Luke, they are a nuisance for the locals because of the holes they create. This is taken from a distance so you can't see how big they are. This one stood about 18 inches!
At days end, we went back to the trailer and again........
...visited into the night. It was good be able to spend time with our son. We had good talks and got all the problems of the nation and world solved. Too bad we are not in charge of things!!!
Sunday, we went to church in Luke's ward and then spent the day together. No pictures of that day!
Monday, we went for a few more hikes and exploring the area. We found the whole time we were out and doing things, that we were wishing Bethany and the girls could be there and enjoying all the places we were seeing. But, they will get moved out here when school ends for them and the family will be reunited again.
Here we took a break from the very hilly portion of one of the hikes.
We hiked into some beautiful falls and joined many others that were there cooling off from the high 90's temperatures.
There were even some cliff jumpers. Luke and I were tempted but refrained.
On the hikes we found there was plenty of nature to see too. It is a beautiful area where Luke and family will live.
Luke found a Garter snake. He has good eyes!!
Wayne found a deer.
Then, we were back at the trailer for more visiting, but we kicked Luke out at 9:30 PM because he had an early morning activity Tuesday morning. Tuesday morning, we left and headed north to Gettysburg PA. It was a very nice visit with Luke!
