We left our 2 week stay at Thousand Trails Orlando, Florida on Wednesday, April 27 and headed in a round about way to the Thousand Trails Preserve in Wauchula FL. But first we wanted to go attend a session at the Orlando FL Temple. But it was further away than we thought and took us longer to get there than we planned, so by the time we arrived it was too late to go and still get to Wauchula, so we opted to view from the outside. It is a beautiful temple, don't you think?
We then drove south towards Wauchula and were rudely introduced to the "Love Bug", swarms of them!!! They all were so preoccupied with mating, that thousands of them were splattered on the front of our truck, windshield and the front of our trailer! Pictures of that later....
We arrived about 6:00 PM and found it to be a beautiful place, except for the large population of "Love Bugs"! They were everywhere. They did not bite or sting, there were just millions of them!!!
We stayed here 5 nights and enjoyed the rest!
We parked our rig in a secluded part of the park. We like being alone. What a beautiful preserve, but it was also hot and humid!
That night we had a thunder storm roll in, the tail end of the storm that created all the tornadoes up north. We were fine.
We learned that by this time of the year 99% of the snow birders have left and headed north due to the heat and the bugs. So, we had the whole lower section of the preserve to ourselves.
It was nice!
And yes, while there we had Cable TV available to us, so we, like many others in the world, watched "The Wedding".
We also went for a couple walks alongside the Peace River.
The flora just was magnificent!
We felt like we were on a tropical island!!
Looking from the front of the park, down towards our section.
It was a nice place to recuperate from the Disney barrage!
