CRUISIN' GALVESTON ,TEXAS 3/17-21/2011

Grant and Melanie treated us to the sights of the island a couple times.  We found Galveston, except for the occasional hurricane, to be a wonderfully amazing place that would be fun to call home.  You have the warm Gulf of Mexico ocean and sandy beaches.......
.....The Dukes of Hazzard to keep an eye on things......
....... hurricane damaged resorts being rebuilt......
... a wonderful cement wall to divert future tidal surges, tidal waves, hurricane swells and big sharks.....

...old family money.....
 ....New Orleans type streets......
.... many, many 100 year old formerly majestic oaks that were all killed by Hurricane Ike when the salt water flooded the island that have been carved into beautiful sculptures.....
 ...new family money.....
 ...more old family money....
...lots of friendly people that are shorter than Wayne....
...historical markes that let us know who the lucky ones were......
....more beautiful New Orleans type streets with loads of shops to explore.....
...old fishermen casting their yarns to the passersby....
...and a strange young man that asked if I would let him get in our family photo (the tallest one) and then asked Grant if I was gay (L - R Melanie, Grant, Strange Guy, Earnest, Teresa, Ann).....
 ....great malt shops....
...great tour guides (L - R Teresa Rice, Ann Cowley, Melanie Rice)....
 ...more beautiful beaches...
...good looking tourist (that are not gay!!!)...
...and great places to park the RV with great views.  What more could one want???  Well, if it weren't for the occasional devastating and deadly hurricanes, maybe we would stay.  But all good things must come to an end....
...so we bid adieu to Grant and Melanie, after several days together and sadly headed out into the wild blue easterly jaunt.  Grant and Teresa, you were fun to get to know and we look forward to our next time together!!!  Thanks so much for your hospitality!!

So, riding off into the sinking moon we went.  Off to see Teresa and Earnest's digs in Huston.  This picture was taken by Wayne's jiggling hands after we went out to dinner with the whole family one evening on the island.  Apparently Wayne had eaten too many crabs and they were pinching his camera skills!!
