We spent several days prior to the whole family gathering for Thanksgiving having a blast with Kevin, Megan and Batman. They stayed with us at the Soledad Canyon Thousand Trails Preserve near Acton, CA. They camped in our trailer with us.
Batman, the explorer, spent many a happy hour discovering special places in the trailer. The expressions he made kept us all in stitches.
Kevin explored the refrigerator and decided he was going to teach us all how to make "the best sandwich in the world". Here he shows Megan the proper sequencing of ingredients. Megan is patient in his tutoring style.
We also found some time to play horse shoes.
As hard as Ann and I tried.
Kevin and Megan beat the tar out of us.
Even with my perfect form, we lost. You don't get points for grace.
A little time on the tennis courts and we found A BALL!!!
We also spent a day in Los Angeles under the direction of super planner Megan. She planned out a super day for us, including Farmers Market.
Batman and Grandpa shared some time watching people and pigeons while we waited for everybody else to get lunch. Then Batman discovered that Uncle Jed and Kate were there and he got all excited!!!
Actually, Jed and Kate arrived the night before, but Batman always was excited when he saw them. Here we are in Farmers Market sharing an outdoor meal together.
Then, a stroll down the lane and we discovered Santa was already there!
Then Megan took us to a big fancy estate of an oil tycoon that now belongs to the city of Los Angeles. This place was enormous and cost 3.2 million in 1928 to build. It was amazing!!
Jed decided he wanted to film his next movie there.... until he found out how much it costs per day to rent it!!!
Kevin, Megan and Batman had fun dreaming it was theirs!
Next stop was Hollywood and Grauman's Chinese Theater to check out all the famous hand prints, foot prints and the walk of stars.
Out back of the Kodak Theater where the Academy Awards show takes place each year, we found a fountain that several of us decided to try to get through without getting wet.
Then a group photo in front of the massive Christmas Tree.
Kevin felt he had mastered the fountain and tried it one more time. Oooops! It made for a rather embarrassing remainder of the night as people stared at him while we walked down the street!
Then as the night wore down, Ann clicked her ruby red slippers and we avoided all the traffic on the drive home. Well, at least we were able to get home.
A grand several days with two sons and their families as we waited patiently for the big family gathering!
