2 WEEKS AT FORT RUNNING BEAR 8/23-9/6/2011

We have been at our home Coast to Coast Park since August 23.  We will leave here the day after Labor Day.  What, you may ask, have we done for those 2 weeks?  Believe it or not, we have been very busy.  No, Mark ,it's not work!  But very time occupying.
For instance, Ann made a lemon ice cream pie!  Then came the hard part.... limiting ourselves to a small slice each evening.  YUMMY!  (Even though it was a store bought graham cracker crust!)
Another thing we did was sprout some alfalfa seed sprouts for our salads and sandwiches.  This required remembering to rinse them several times a day!  Not many left are there?  Better start sprouting some more!
We also made a couple batches of home made whole wheat bread.  Again, time to make some more.  Maybe tomorrow after we walk our 9 miles in the morning.
Oh, that's something else we do.  We walk in this beautiful desert anywhere from 2-9 miles a day  (But only in the morning when it is 40-45 degrees, before it heats up to 85-90 degrees).
Then another thing we do, we make cooked whole wheat to sprinkle on our sandwiches and eat for breakfast with raisins.
We've also cooked up a batch of black beans to use for dinners of beans and rice, make sandwiches with, snack on and such.
Another thing we do is worry that we might run out of excellent pickled garlic.  But, we think we might have enough to make it until we get to The Olive Pit south of Redding CA.

Then still another thing we do is enjoy home made delicious sandwiches for lunch.  This was Wayne's today.  Delicious looking, eh!!!  Ingredients: 2 slices of home made whole wheat bread; two tablespoons of Miracle Whip, spread one tablespoon on each side; 5 tablespoons of drained, cold black beans; 1 tablespoon cooked whole wheat kernels; 10 pickled garlic buttons, sliced; 8 slices of bread and butter pickles (those are sweet pickles, Kevin); 1 small handful of alfalfa sprouts.  Juicy, tasty, YUMMY!!  Beats cowboy music any day!!!

This is what is left of Ann's creation.  She devoured it before we could take a picture.  It was an open faced toasted cheese and alfalfa sprouts sandwich on home made whole wheat bread.  Yummy!!  Now you see why we have to walk each morning!

Oh, another thing we do to stay busy is read.  We do that a lot.  Ann's current book is on the left and Wayne's current book is on the right.
We also play miniature golf, pay bills, visit with our fellow RV'ers, work on Family History, help the owners on odd jobs around the park, watch a little news, Ann knits, watch a few movies, clean the trailer, talk to each other, work on Wayne's autobiography,
and cut Wayne's hair.
So, you see, two weeks has flown by and we still don't have enough time to get everything done.  So, after Labor Day we will take a couple days to drive to Bend, Oregon where we will stay a couple weeks, do more of what we have been doing and also visit another son and his family.  WHEW!!!
