HWY 70 FROM TULAROSA TO HONDO, NM 2/14/11

 After the tour of the nut farm, we drove through some surprisingly different area.  Still we passed through desert areas with outcroppings of mountains standing in the middle of flat desert.

 Then we began ascending a mountain pass and driving through the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation.  Luke, the next few pictures were shot as we were talking to you.  This is what we were seeing as we visited with you.

 We began seeing GREEN TREES!!!!  It was almost like being in Oregon. 

 As we ascended we utilized the altimeter device on the GPS that our sons bought us for Christmas.  We love being able to see what our elevation is as we drive along!

Finally, we reached the summit!  It was beautiful!  And what do you think we found??

 SNOW!!!!!

As we descended the other side we felt like we were headed into eastern Oregon and looking at the Cascades!!  Beautiful!!!

A refreshing drive!!
