TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS 7/7-10/2012

I got an e-mail from a 70+ year old friend the other day in which he included a poem written by his now deceased wife.  In the poem, she expressed a need for him to show more concern for her, spend more time with her and do more things with her.  She is now gone and he wishes he would have spent more time doing the things she wanted him to do and spent more time showing he cared.  It hit me pretty hard.
Something Ann  had expressed that she'd like to do, just the two of us, was to go canoeing.  So, while at Lake of the Springs Preserve, I rented a canoe and we took off across the lake and then up the creek that fed the lake.
We had fun going up the shallow creek.
So shallow it was that we needed to get out once and dislodge ourselves.
It was a beautiful, relaxing time together.
We got to a point where we could not go any further.  It was fun to push the limits and see how far we could go!!
The next day we headed out of Lake of the Springs and headed north to Oregon.  On the way we stopped in Redding to visit an old family friend, Estelle Ashcraft.  She and her husband, John were long time friends of Wayne's parents.  She is still completely independent at age 92.  She's a real inspiration!!
Arriving in Medford, Oregon we gathered with Wayne's brother and Ann's brother and some of their families for a good ol' Mexican Dinner before heading off to Loeb State Park in Brookings, Oregon
