THREE PIECES OF JULY: THIRD PIECE (C) 7/28/2013

Sunday started with milk and big store bought muffins that Ann had bought and froze weeks ago.  Then most of us went to church.  That almost doubled our little branch's attendance for the day!!  After church we gathered up our gear for a BBQ and day at Buffington Park. This beautiful City park with lots of playground structures was ideal for our relaxing day.  We found a shady spot with picnic tables near the wood structure and settled in.  Here Grandma Cowley, Aunt Kate, Mango and Green Hornet sit for a spell.
Uncle Luke and his daughter, Apple chill a bit.
Strawberry laughs with Green Hornet as they sit with the rest of the family.
Oranges gives Grandpa "The Look" when he asks her to say something funny for the camera while Pineapple and Mango (behind Oranges) carry on a lively conversation.
We think is is amazing that our grandchildren are such good friends even though they see each other so rarely.  Here Bananas and Peaches share some time together.  Too bad Grandpa can't get these cute girls in focus!
Uncle Sean looks on as his son, Captain America, loves his cousin, Batman.  In the background is Strawberry and The Hulk visiting.
The day was also a birthday celebration for Pineapple.  The cake that he mother so lovingly made for her was textured by Pineapple as she walked over to someone and stepped twice in her cake.  No worry.  It had plastic wrap on it!
While the tri tips were BBQ'ing under the expert direction of Uncle Kevin, the family all traipsed over to a specially selected site located by our two photographers of the day, Uncle Jed and Aunt Megan.  There we gathered for lots and lots of poses to glean a family portrait or two.  This is our crew, grouped by families.  We are only missing Aunt Amanda.  Maybe we can photo shop her in next to Uncle Sean.  Anybody know somebody that has those kind of tools????
Superman, who normally has a very handsome smile, decided that this was the day to try out his, "not gonna smile for nobody" look for the afternoon.  Even sporting Grandpa's stylish hat, Grandpa could not get him to crack his kisser.  It takes will power and self control to resist Grandpa's antics.  This young man is a powerful non peer or grandpa pressure guy.  Stay strong Superman!  Grandpa found out that Aunt Megan got him to smile later.  Caved to the enticings of your cute aunt and her camera, eh, Superman ??
After the photo session, the food was ready.  Grandma and her boys all chipped in to create a wondersful spread of tri tip steak, scalloped potatoes, green beans, cowboy beans, potato salad and soda pop.
As the meat was being cut on the other side of the table, Uncle Sean was preparing the bowl for the cut meat.
Lots of cooks and sidewalk supervisors!
The hungry crowd awaits a delectably palate pleasing delight with patience!!
The Cowley Boys!!  L-R: Sean, Luke, Kevin, Jed and Jared.  A handsome lot, eh?
Ummmm!  Mouth watering!! That was one tri tip sliced up.  3 more to go!!
A spread of delicious food and good company!
Yummy!
Green Hornet has his spoon and says "Lemmie at it!!!!"
After the meal, the cake and birthday song, more play grounding and some rocket launching, we went back to our house for the present opening for Pineapple's birthday.  Batman and Pineapple look in wonder and say "What the heck is that?"  It was an un-assembled pint sized shopping cart.
Then the real hit was opened!  Her own dolly!!
Love at first sight!!!
Then it was time for another campfire and some s'mores or marshmallows!  Captain America got a little carried away on the fire, but it burned down to a nice batch of coals in a bit and we all settled into the time honored skill of roasting and not burning.....with mixed success.  Thus we ended another day in the reunion!
Watch the toes!!!
